Graphic & Interactive Design
GAID’s mission is to educate designers who aspire to practice at the most creative levels of the profession. Tyler graduates are working in all areas of the design industry.
The GAID facilities in Tyler’s new home on Temple’s main campus are spacious and state-of-the art. Access to Temple’s many programs in academics and the arts offers the breadth of experience that is essential to the designer’s education.
The Graphic & Interactive Design program at Tyler trains students in visual communication. Designers use creative combinations of ideas, art and technology to inform and influence specific audiences. The field includes corporate identity, packaging, publishing, advertising, signage, exhibition design and design for television, film, video, the world-wide-web and CD-ROM.
It is the goal of Tyler’s BFA program in design to challenge students to achieve the highest level of excellence in their work and to prepare them to enter the design profession immediately upon graduation. To this end students are evaluated by the exacting standards of the profession from the beginning of their design studies at Tyler. Because of this rigorous training, graduates from the program are sought out by studios and agencies around the country.]]>
Authorship of large-scale projects is central to the MFA program. Students in the masters program create the content of their work in seminar and thesis courses. The execution of work in the MFA program is expected to meet the exacting visual and technical demands of the profession as well as the conceptual challenge of authorship.
